Boundaries help define what this School allows, carries, shares and protects. They can apply to time, touch, information, responsibility, availability, emotional labor and behavior.
A boundary can protect connection rather than end it.
A familiar moment
You receive a request just as you are finishing an exhausting day. You type “yes” because the possible disappointment feels immediate, then notice resentment before the evening is over. Connection wanted safety, Energy had little capacity and the boundary became visible only after it was crossed.
Through the ISS lens
The Students may know a boundary is needed before the Secretary can explain it. Anger may appear. Fatigue may appear. Resentment may appear. Security may simultaneously fear what will happen if the boundary is expressed. The School can therefore contain two real signals: I need this to stop. and I am afraid of what happens if I say so. That conflict is common.
Boundaries and control
A boundary describes what this School will do or allow. It does not control the other School. The Principal can say no. The other person may still be disappointed. The Principal can ask for change. The other person may refuse. Boundary clarity includes accepting that other Schools have agency too.

What can help+
Separate the boundary from the prediction. What actually needs protection? What are you asking for? What will this School do if the boundary is not respected? Is the fear based on present evidence, older learning or both? Good boundaries are not always comfortable. Their purpose is clarity and sustainable relationship, not universal approval.
