Values are qualities and principles the School wants to express through choices and behavior.
Inside the School
Values can guide direction even when outcomes are uncertain. Unlike goals, they are not usually completed; they are practiced through repeated choices.
In everyday life
You value honesty, but sending the truthful message may still feel uncomfortable. The value provides direction; it does not remove the Student’s fear of the response.
Values also appear in small choices: giving full attention for five minutes, keeping a promise or deciding not to join a conversation that treats someone carelessly.
System connections under load
Values connect PURPOSE with CONNECTION and action. Under load, immediate relief can become more compelling than long-term direction. Self-leadership means hearing the discomfort and still asking what choice fits the School you are practising becoming.
Important nuance
Values become less useful when they harden into rules used to punish the School for not being perfect. Connected paths: The Principal · Direction · Goals · Self-leadership
Values are compass directions, not trophies.
