Anxiety

Anxiety can appear in many forms.

Anxiety can appear in many forms: a racing heart, tight muscles, a restless stomach, a sense that something is wrong, persistent thoughts about the future or repeated scanning of the Body, other people and the environment. InsideISS does not treat anxiety as one isolated thing. It is a pattern that can involve several Worlds at once: BODY produces signals, MIND interprets, EMOTIONS react or ENERGY shifts toward protection.

CONNECTION may feel less secure. The whole School can participate.

A recognizable moment

You notice a sensation and immediately check whether it is still there. The checking brings attention back to the Body, Security reads the continued attention as importance and activation rises. The original signal remains real; a secondary loop has now formed around it.

The alarm does not need a visible fire

Sometimes the reason for anxiety is obvious. A difficult event is coming. Something genuinely uncertain is happening. Other times, the alarm appears before the explanation. The Body changes first. Then the Secretary begins searching for a reason. This distinction matters. A story can sometimes be created after activation has already begun. The thought may explain the alarm without necessarily causing it.

Anxiety and prediction

Anxiety often lives partly in the future. Security asks: Could something go wrong? The Secretary begins constructing possibilities. The Body responds to those possibilities as useful information. That stronger body state makes the future scenario feel more believable. The loop can become self-reinforcing.

Anxiety is not proof of danger

Feeling unsafe and being in danger are not always the same thing. The feeling is real. The alarm is real. But the meaning of the alarm still needs interpretation. This is where the Principal becomes important. Not to dismiss the signal. Not to panic because of it. To listen, gather information and decide what the system actually needs.

What can help

Different forms of anxiety require different responses. Sometimes action is needed. Sometimes information. Sometimes connection. Sometimes rest. Sometimes the Body needs to settle before the Mind can think clearly. The goal is not to prove that every alarm is false. The goal is to help the School become better at distinguishing: signal, prediction and actual danger.

One sentence summary

Anxiety is an alarm state of the system — and an alarm is information, not automatically evidence of danger.
