Self-understanding is one of the reasons InsideISS exists. The goal is not to find one hidden explanation for everything. It is to build a map detailed enough that the School can ask better questions.
Understanding the pattern creates more choice than judging the reaction.
A familiar moment
You hear yourself explain too much after a small misunderstanding. Instead of deciding I am impossible, you notice a familiar protection strategy: Connection fears being misread, the Secretary supplies more detail and Security hopes certainty will prevent rejection.
Through the ISS lens
A reaction can involve several Worlds. The Body may be depleted. The Secretary may be using an old belief. A Student may feel threatened. Security may recognize a familiar pattern. Connection may feel unsafe. Purpose may be pulling in another direction. The same outward behavior can therefore emerge from different internal combinations. Self-understanding means mapping the combination before assigning a label.
Explanation versus excuse
Understanding why a pattern exists does not remove responsibility for what happens next. It changes the starting point. Instead of: Why am I like this? the Principal can ask: What is the system doing? What is it protecting? What did it learn? What needs updating? This allows compassion and responsibility to coexist.

What can help+
Look for recurring loops rather than permanent identity labels. Notice state. Notice context. Notice what changed before the reaction. Identify the Secretary's story. Listen to the Students. Ask what Security is trying to prevent. Then bring Purpose back in: What would I like to practice next?

Self-understanding turns “What is wrong with me?” into “What pattern is the School running, and what can it learn next?”
