Choice is the capacity to select a response when more than one path is available.
Inside the School
Choice can be large or very small. High activation, limited resources or real-world constraints can narrow the available options.
In everyday life
You cannot control whether the application succeeds, but you can choose whether to send it. The outcome and the School’s part in the process are not the same thing.
Sometimes choice is very small: pause before replying, leave the room, ask for clarification or decide which task will remain unfinished today.
System connections under load
Choice is where PURPOSE meets available capacity. High activation, exhaustion and external limits can narrow it. The Principal does not need unlimited freedom; regulation aims to recover enough space to identify the next choice that genuinely belongs to this School.
Important nuance
InsideISS distinguishes agency from total control. The Principal chooses within reality rather than commanding reality. Connected paths: The Principal · Decision-making · Responsibility · Self-leadership
Choice is the space where the School can influence what happens next.
