Attention

Attention is what the School selects from the enormous amount of information available at any moment.

Attention is what the School selects from the enormous amount of information available at any moment.

Inside the School

What receives attention tends to become more prominent. Security can pull attention toward possible threat, while Purpose can deliberately redirect it toward a task, relationship or value.

In everyday life

A notification appears while you are writing. Even without opening it, part of the School keeps returning to the small red mark, and the original task becomes harder to hold.

At another time, you become absorbed in repairing a bicycle or reading a story and realize an hour has passed. Attention narrowed, but it did so around something useful and chosen.

System connections under load

Attention is a limited resource shared by MIND, BODY and Security. Threat, pain and unfinished tasks can pull it automatically. Regulation may involve reducing competing input, completing one small loop or deliberately returning to what matters rather than demanding perfect concentration.

Important nuance

Attention is limited. Constant checking, notifications, uncertainty and cognitive load can leave less room for flexible choice. Connected paths: Security Department · The Principal · Anxiety · Cognitive Load
