Emotional expression is how inner experience becomes visible through words, tone, facial expression, movement, behavior and action.
Inside the School
Expression allows other Schools to receive information that would otherwise remain internal. It can support connection and boundary setting.
In everyday life
You hold frustration together through the workday and snap at home over a minor question. The emotion found an exit, but not in the place where it began.
Expression can also be measured: telling a friend you are disappointed, writing privately, making music or allowing your face to show that something matters.
System connections under load
Expression links EMOTIONS with CONNECTION and BODY. Suppression can add load, while unfiltered discharge can create new problems. Regulation means finding a form, timing and audience that communicate the Student’s experience without handing it complete control of the School.
Important nuance
Expression is not the same as acting on every impulse. The Principal can choose a form, timing and intensity that fit the situation. Connected paths: The Messenger · The Students · Communication · Boundaries
Expression gives emotion a channel without requiring emotion to control behavior.
