Movement is how the Body uses motion, strength, coordination and physical activity to interact with the world and maintain capacity.
Inside the School
Movement can increase activation, release tension, provide sensory information, support physical function and sometimes help the School change state. Different forms of movement ask different things from the system.
In everyday life
After two hours at a screen, your neck feels fixed and your thoughts begin to drag. A short walk does not solve the work, but the change in posture, light and rhythm gives the School different information.
Movement can also feel like pleasure rather than correction. You put on music while cooking, stretch after a train journey or notice that climbing a hill leaves you pleasantly awake instead of depleted.
System connections under load
Movement connects BODY with ENERGY, MIND and EMOTIONS. Too much demand can turn it into another task to survive; too little can leave the system without useful variation. A fitting direction depends on current capacity, recovery and what the movement is for.
Important nuance
More is not always better. Movement can support regulation when it fits current capacity and become additional load when recovery is already limited. Connected paths: The Workers · The Furnace · Recovery · Fatigue · 5-Minute Regulation
Movement is both physical work and information about what the Body can do today.
